translating doc and template tips

Hello,

I'm new to the list, sorry if my questions are FAQs:

- I'd like to help translating spip.org documentation. I was
  thinking of translating the reference manual since George K.
  has done most of the important basic documents, and I
  personnaly use the French reference manual often.

- How do non-french speaking site maintainers manage with French
  templates? Are there reference cards for common words such as
  "boucle", "breve", etc. What are the main difficulties? [1]

- Is there an english home page alternative to spip.org? Right
  now, I'm pointing people to the english doc on spip.net.

The question I ask is because I'm helping with the Bulgarian
translation, and most web-oriented bg people are more familiar
with English than French.

There is no transtation of the 'boucles et balises' SPIP language.
They heve to learn these few french words. With a good documentation, it should not be too difficult.
In spanish we are doing a kind of 'lexique':

- Is there an english home page alternative to spip.org? Right
  now, I'm pointing people to the english doc on spip.net.

spip.net is the right place. work in progress...
we have to translate and build good skeletons.
SPIP is/will be the english homepage.
