suddenly no access to the private area

I am no longer able to access the private area of the site (http://nswas.org).

It goes to /ecrire/inconnu with a 404 error code.

The public site works fine.

I have tried deleting /config/connect.php and /config/.httaccess
and then successfully went through the stages that follow that (reconnecting to the database, etc.)
But at the end of the process, it sends me back again to to the 404 page.
Afterwards I also deleted everything in /tmp, but that didn’t have any effect either.

I am using SPIP 1.92 Revision: 10761 from 2007.11.08.

I have tried to search for a solution to the problem, but without success.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Howard

Hi Howard.

I sometimes experience the same problem.

Do you have any plugin activated ? If so, try renaming the plugin
directory and connect to the private area again. It worked with my site

If this doesn't work, I do not see what else to do.

Good luck

Etienne

The plugins are all deactivated, and I have now tried re-naming the
directory, then again deleting /config/connect.php and the .htaccess of
the /config directory. Then, after reconnecting I receive the same
error.

I have also tried renaming the .htaccess file of the root directory.

Maybe I should reinstall spip again?

Howard

Yes, you might try reinstalling it with the latest version SPIP 1.9.2c
[10268], emptying all /tmp directory and see if the problem occures again.

But what seems strange to me is that 404 error code. It would mean that
one of your file had been re-named or deleted in your /ecrire directory
and I don't see how this could have happened automaticaly.

When yous site was up, di you use the .htaccess file for something
specific (like url rewriting for example or something else ?)

Good luck.

Hmmmm. just a question : is your SPIP version a dev one ? because I've
just realised it was newer than mine which seems to have been released on
september ?

The version of SPIP being used (Revision: 10761 from 2007.11.08.) is a
development version yes. I am not usually so quick to upgrade, but I
was advised to upgrade to the latest one by Gilles last week, when I
reported on another problem (which was resolved).

Regarding your question about the .htaccess code for the site, this is
for URL re-writing, yes. But I did not make custom modifications to the
file (and anyway, there continues to be no access to the private area
when it is removed).

I will do another reinstall this evening. But it seems strange to have
to do this again, after doing so only last week.

Thanks,

Howard

Well I don't know what's going on then. Maybe that comes from the dev
version. Anyway I have forwarded your problem to the french list. So if it
comes from the dev version, I hope it'll be fixed ASAP.

I'll keep you informed about any feedback.

Rgds.

Thanks. Although I still don't know what caused the problem, it was
solved this evening by upgrading to the latest development version.

Howard.
