A plugin is a program that enhance or add new features to SPIP. It is
written specifically for SPIP and respects a particular formalism (an API)
that allows SPIP to interact with the plugin. The name of plugin come from
"plug" as it should be easy to plug and unplug into SPIP.

The introduction of the plugins system is a solution to avoid the
hypertrophy of SPIP's "kernel" — which will allow a better maintenance
— and to extend the personalisation possibilities.

Là aussi je réagis tard car la problème apparaît aussi dans l'article
d'origine :
Ce n'est pas expliqué "où" récupérer les plugins.

Il faudrait peut-être faire un lien vers la page du wiki :
http://trac.rezo.net/trac/spip-zone/wiki/LesPlugins
en attendant qu'elle soit traduite (ou qu'on ait mieux)

ou au moins préciser qu'on peut les récupérer par svn (ce qui est dit
dans le wiki)
et via les archives qui sont sur http://trac.rezo.net/files/spip-zone/
(pour certains)
