[SPIP Zone] Memobox plugin

I'm developing a plugin that tranforms some elements of a page, tipically links, in draggable items that can be dropped in a box that will stay the same all over a site. It stores links dropped during navigation in a specific site in the browser cookie to be fastly picked later on.

In which directory can I commit it?

Ciao
Renato

hello,

i suggest you to create one : 'root/_plugins_/_funny_stuff_'

and memobox in it.

Ciao

It looks like the other gadgets.
I sugest that you create a directory /_plugins_/_amelioration_admin_/_gadgets_
(and commit it)
and after that you commit memobox inside.

Your tool can be usefull.
Wich javascript library do you use ?

as far as i knox, it’s more for the public side than for admin side
could be better in plugins/squelettes

however this classification doesn’t suit very well.
do like you want, it will be ok !

now there’s only one for spip ! :)))
i mean jquery of course :stuck_out_tongue:

I wrote it in scriptaculous but I rewrote it in jquery with interface
(http://www.eyecon.ro/interface/) for SPIP

Great !
interface looks really promising !

I'll commit.

Is this really important? the current structure (I mainly created it) doesn't really help finding plugins and when the plugins are moved to the branche_stable dir, the directory structure is flattened.

And a few existing plugins are already at the root of _plugins_ as it's too difficult to qualify them :stuck_out_tongue:

well, I have used scriptaculous/prototype.js for a few of my plugins, it's not "independant" but should be. And for DnD features, it's quite nice!

Is there a benefit in using jquery/interface (first time I ear about that, great!) over scriptaculous?

let’s say that jquery is a young js library that offers many features and that a few of us has been seduced…
we’re playing very hard with it for a few weeks (hum, not so long, maybe 2 weeks …) and it’s very powerfull, you should have seen some commit …

i think i can say it’s going to be part of the spip core very soon, and that’s why renato rewrite it for spip …

I wrote it some time ago with scriptaculous. But I find jquery very cool and I rewrote it.

I think the main benefit is that jquery is ligther. This plugin, including strict needed library code only, is 56k with jquery and 86k with scriptaculous, not compressed.

Other than this, i prefer jquery syntax because is a very compact one but it remains still readable.

However scriptaculous has a lot a features..it's an hard choice

It's young, i confirm
In fact, interface needs jquery 1.0 alpha and I had to change a pair of things about the drag plugin to support memobox.
