[SPIP Zone] [Geekographie Maïeulesque] MESSAGE About Sphinx search

Dear Adrian,

Thanks you for this email. I have worked a little bit with Sphinx, but only a little bit (and I have never written any tutorial on sphinx).

In any case, I forward your message ton the spip-zone list, which is the mailing list of contributions around spip.

Many thanks,

Maïeul

Hi Maïeul,
I see you contributed to some tutorials about using Sphinx with SPIP.
Just wanted to let you know there’s been a fork of Sphinx search made this year due to almost-stopped development of Sphinx (you can check the github repo).
The fork, called Manticore Search, was initiated by several big Sphinx users and most of the team is made of ex-devs of Sphinx.

We released this week the first full-featured version, which brings several new features + lot of bug fixes (check https://manticoresearch.com/2017/10/17/manticore-search-2-4-1-ga-release/ for more details).
This release is 100% compatible with Sphinx 2.3.2

Our github repo is GitHub - manticoresoftware/manticoresearch: Easy to use open source fast database for search | Good alternative to Elasticsearch now | Drop-in replacement for E in the ELK soon.

I’m sending you this email as we’re trying to reach the community and inform about the fork.

If you have any questions, just let me know !

Cheers !
Adrian Nuta
