spip forum spam

In a web site managed by SPIP 1.81, a couple of the articles have acquired a couple of thousand forum spam messages. I have disabled the forums now for that entire site (for all articles « without exception », but the messages remain in the database and, probably due to the large number of forum messages, it isn’t even possible to access one of the articles any more. With the other article, the forum messages still appear, even after clearing the cache.

Deleting the spam messages one by one would take hours (and anyway they remain in the database. Is there a way to delete the entire forum message database, perhaps with phpmyadmin? I am afraid to try to do it blindly, in case that would corrupt the database.

Thanks

i think phpmyadmin is the way. if you’re talinking thousands of messages i would suggest:

  • browse your spip_forum tables (you could sort on id_article and let it it show for instance 100 rows - whatever fits you)
  • selec all
  • delete selected

quite simple i think.

of course take backup first and use with caution.

success!

btw: there MUST be some anti spam tools available for spip… no time look now.

There is a plugin called "corbeille" in the plugin zone (Connexion · GitLab). You can use it to delete all those messages in the database from within SPIP.

There is an akismet plugin for spip:

it's supposed to work well for spip.

Spip1.9.2c integrates a native antispam (honeypot). The plugin Akismet
(indicates by Pierre) can of course only be used for 1.9.x versions of
SPIP. I don't think there is any antispam solution with the version
1.8.1. If it's really a problem, I suggest you to first upgrade your
installation, and eventually install the plugin.

Thanks, everyone, I have for now solved the problem of the accumulated spam via phpmyadmin, and cancelled the forums for now. I will bring them back sometime when in the future I upgrade SPIP on that site.

Hi men, and first of all, Merry Christmas everybody.

I'm sorry toinform I also have had spam messages using 192c. My solution
for this was to ask for a validation before publication, then, dealing
with rejected messages using plugin "advanced trashbin" -->
SPIP-Contrib (fr.)

Have all a nice day.
