All credit to Roger Vetterberg for providing the catalyst for such a burst of enthusiasm on this list. Let's keep it up.
My problem is following the developer discussion and direction of SPIP. It's just too much work to translate all the comment on the French forum and mailing list so I don't tend to see what's happpening until it has been released. So I would like to see an English equivalent of contrib and an English forum, but rather than separate domain/hosting I think it should be integrated in the existing site.
On the question of Boucle/Rubriques and other keywords, they're just a few words. A short glossary is all that's needed when you start building templates and you soon pick it up. There is a glossary in progress.
As far as documentation is concerned, that's all authored in SPIP itself and so the necessary mechanisms for collaboration and coordination are already available. I have basic secondary school knowledge of the language which together with Google, a dictionary and excellent guidance from George Kandalaft and Paolo has resulted in a few extra pages in English documentation. You too can contribute by registering for an author account here http://www.spip.net/spip_pass.php3
(If I want to contribute to contrib, should my spip.net account allow me to login? It doesn't seem to work)
Until now spip_contrib is quite all in french, even thought you can see that some contribs are in spanish.
But I admit that it's not that clear that spip_contrib is already "multilingual" so, as soon as new international contribs are availiable, we'll redraw the spip_contrib's templating system so that the navigation is easier in a multilingual context.

I registered last night and there's an English translation of a utility awaiting review already.
