Problem with the Server resources

Hi,

Please forgive me if this question has been already answered elsewhere. I am a sysadmin managing servers and I find that one of our clients is using SPIP CMS and it takes up lots of server resources. I would hate to dismiss the client for this issue.

Specifically, the problem ensues whenever his site is bombarded with hits from a search engine. When rapid fire requests are made to his site, the CPU and Memory usage rises to a very high level and has to be throttled. Throttling server resources at other times is not such a good idea. Is there something I can do to the configuration of SPIP so that it can « behave » normally ?

Thanks in advance,
Best regards,
Menconi

Hi

what version of SPIP is it? In any case you can add the security
screen that will throttle robots (and only them) when server load is
too high.
