Installation Trouble

Greetings:

I am having trouble with the installation. I have tried to install SPIP 1.6 by both the automatic and the manual method. The error messages are shown below:

Hi Scott,

Have you performed the post installation setup steps? Looks like you may not have done this by looking at this URL on your site:

http://smferguson.com/ecrire/install.php3

Follow the instructions in these screens and all should be OK.

Bonjour Antony,

I would like to follow the installation steps, but unfortunately, these exact error messages also occur after the opening screen at http://www.smferguson.com/ecrire/install.php3 (where the language is selected) and clicking the « next » button.

Any other ideas?

1/ First make sure you have correctly uploaded all the files of SPIP
distribution,
2/ If this is ok, it may be some rights configuration or php
configuration problems:
- with your ftp clinets try to give all access rights to 'others' to
your folders
- try to put a .php file that contains :

<?
phpinfo();
?>

and visit this file with a browser to analyse the PHP config of your
hosting.

inclusion (include_path='/usr/local/php/share/pear') in
/home/www/smferguson/ecrire/inc_version.php3 on line 322

The PHP configuration is wrong. The "include_path" option is set to
"/usr/local/php/share/pear", which means it does not contain the current
directory: thus SPIP cannot include its own files. This option should be
set to ".:/usr/local/php/share/pear", which means: look for files first
in the current directory (".") then in /usr/local/php/share/pear.

The PHP configuration is set in the php.ini file, you may have to ask
your web hosting provider why it is not configured properly. The
standard PHP configuration does include the current directory in the
include_path. As explained in the PHP documentation :

"Using a . in the include path allows for relative includes as it means
the current directory."
