Well, you have joined this list -- that is a very good start!

You need to get a login for spip.net so that you can enter the editing area:
http://www.spip.net/ecrire
On that page, press the "Register" link and follow the instructions.

From the page http://www.spip.net/rubrique4.html you can have an overview of the translations.

It would probably be good to finish the translations of the Russian interface at http://www.spip.net/trad-lang/trad_lang.php : quite a lot of the translations have already been done, but there are some missing.

The Russian help section on spip.net is at http://www.spip.net/ecrire/?exec=naviguer&id_rubrique=510
and I see that someone, "papa.troll", is working on this article:
http://www.spip.net/ecrire/?exec=articles&id_article=4893

Is this you, or someone you are working with? If it is someone you know, you can ask him to add you as an author to the article so that you can work on it too.

Do not hesitate to write to the list again when you have more questions, and when the articles are ready for publishing.

I’ve made a big bugfix with russian translation of SPIP/ecrire some days ago. When the translation would appear in distribution package?
I wish to translate the plugin.xml for main plugins of SPIP from French to Russian (English). How could I do it?

Yes; in fact we'll need to set up your account as "restricted admin"
of the Russian language sections of the site. You could also work on
the russian-language mailing-list cf.

By looking at the "article revisions" of the French equivalent, you may be able to see if a lot has been changed since the date of the English version. If it looks like an article is particularly out-of-date, then tell us on this list and Mark, George, Gilles or I (those who have worked on English in recent times) will try to help.

The small amount of translation/re-reading work which I am able to do currently is more on programmer.spip.org -- another interesting site for you to see!

Well, Serge, why don't you start by doing the trad-lang phrases for the editing area of SPIP and the online help in Russian? When that is done you will maybe have a better feel yourself for how to continue...

Hi Serge,

of course you can suggest a russian translation (the english is complete) : just create an account on programmer.spip.org, ask Marcimat for creating a new branch for the future russian version, and start making translations =)

But Marcimat seems to have chosen not to publish any more trads until the spanish version will be completed and the content of the website stabilized. So you may work « underground » at the beginning ;).

Of course, any help on spip.net is also welcomed.

Both sites don’t have the same infos : initially, programmer.spip.org was essentially for the plugin developers.

I send you a password for svn.
