how to create article template to automatically separate a long article

Hi,
Anyone has experience to separate a long article into several pages. I would
like to create such kind of article template that in case the display of article
need more than 600px in height, it can put the remain part into another page
with a link on the first page.
Thanks.

Hi,

this feature has been extended in SPIP (svn version) :
here is the translation of a recent change log (08/13):
"
Pagination via models
Models are some elementary templates used by the compiler to generate
the result of some tag.
You can overwrite them in any "modeles/" directory of the search path
(for ex. squelettes/modeles/ and plugin/toto/modeles)

Details : http://trac.rezo.net/trac/spip/changeset/7026

Precisions :
#PAGINATION uses the model "modeles/pagination_dist.html",
#PAGINATION{page} uses the model "modeles/pagination_page.html"
"

I think that this feature corresponds exactly to your needs. I you
don't want to wait for the 1.9.1 version, you can get the last built
version here : http://trac.rezo.net/files/spip/spip.zip

Thanks for your information.
I checked the links and read carefully, the pagination provided is
more for loop to organize defined number of articles into different
pages. However what I need is for the text within one single article,
as there is no tag within text I can not use loop.
I'm not very familiar with webdesign, I think maybe that can only be
achieved by scripting?
