Anyone out there?

Hi all,

Haven't seen any traffic on this list since I joined it last week, so thought I'd introduce myself and see who is out there!

I've been using SPIP since v1.4.2 (though that was a struggle as English support had only just started), and after much head scratching and english/french translation (incidentally my french is much better now!) managed to get some working templates together for my site.

I've just upgraded to v1.6pr2 (forced by a new PHP version at hoster) which went quite well, even though I installed to a new site path (being nervous of trashing the original site) - upgrade documentation en francais. After finding an english support list on the download page and improved language support in v1.6 I was delighted - however, seeing no traffic on this list - I am less so.

Reasons for choosing SPIP were it's flexibility, simplicity and it's speed. I tried Postnuke with ContentExpress plugins with great expectations only to upload the whole thing to our hoster and watch the site grind to a halt. Performance was terrible. SPIP seemed to perform much better and the internal cache is a godsend.

What I would like to know, is if anyone has made any ground in producing english language documenation or tutorials on the templates (or 'skeletons'). Although I have our site working I would like to take advantage of forums and integrate with non-spip elements like calendar functions. However, I am finding this hard.

Anyone made any progress on this?

Regards,
Paul Morris

Hi and welcome to the list

There is not much traffic here because the list is still new and I guess
it was not much publicised yet since the final version of international
SPIP is not yet released.

As for the English documentation, we are in the process of producing it and you can check the progress at: http://rezo.net/trad_spip
And since your french is much better now, if you want to help in the project, you are most welcome. You can find the french documentation at:
[uZine 3] SPIP, système de publication pour l’internet
